Our perceptions tend to guide us and chart the path of our lives and attitudes in how we approach life. When things are going good our perception is good. When things are going badly our peception most often is bad. So, goes our attitudes with our perceptions based on the circumstances that come our way.
The problem is that more often than not our perceptions don't line up with reality. Misunderstandings cause us to percieve that no one cares. If you are constantly being misunderstood, you begin to percieve that everyone is against you when in "reality" you and I may need to change how we communicate and really think about the trash that is about to move past our lips into open air. Because let's face it, our words have a lot of power. The power to give life and take it away.
So I am doing my best to choose today to focuss on making my perception line up with reality.
Boy, I have a lot of work to do.
Blessings,
Mike III AKA: Big Daddy
When I write about my life and thoughts, I can't help but write about my wife and kids. I am married to the most beautiful woman in the world. She is my best friend and love of my life. I fall deeper in love with her every day. My prayer is that she will continue to grow deeply in love with me. My girls are the light of my life. My wife and girls inspire me to better than I am. I love you Adrienne, Gabby, and Gracie

Act on Your Passion
"Lex learned to act on his passion, never hold anything back. I wonder if we’ll ever be able to do the same." - Lana Lang
I tend to quote Smallville a lot. I am a fan of the show, well big fan... But, I watch and listen to some of the lines and see many of them as being very profound. Many times they cause me to think deeply about myself and the world I live in.
Acting on Passion is something that takes guts. It often takes a courage we don't know we posess and instills a fear that can stop us in our tracks. It's like the first time you perform in front of people. There is a level of nervousness and fear that creates the "butterflies in the stomach" effect. But, acting on passion is a gift waiting to be unwrapped.
Some of the greatest people I have ever known (some gone from this world) have learned to act on their passion. Weather it's loving others, or creating a great work of art that touches the deepest feelings. Many of us have many passions in our lives. A passion for our spouce and children. Passion to create, perform, and be the best at what we do. While many passions are good, others like the love of money can replace the passion of the above mentioned. Some of the most unhappy people I have known are the ones that are passionate about money and do everything in their power to get as much of it as possilbe. Sure they can buy all the cool toys, treat people to expensive meals, and spend 100 plus $ on a pair of jeans. But, they aren't truely happy because they don't posess anything of real relevance.
So, like Lana said, I wonder if we will be able to act on our passions?!

Life as a Letter from God
"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2nd Corithians 3:3
I believe that man different things can inspire us to be better than who we are. While I was away at trainging for two weeks I bought the movie "Letters to God." At first I thought, "Ya, just another Christian movie." As I watched I was touched on a very deep level and convicted in many ways. I began to think about my life and what kind of letter it is from God. The more I watched the more I was moved. Think about it! If our life is a letter from God, then what is that letter saying?
A little over half way through tears began to well up and by the end of the movie I was in full blown tears calling out to God for forgiveness for not acting on what I had felt deeply to do so many times but ignored. Not writing a letter to God, but doing something great for the kingdom without worrying about recognition in any way shape or form.
I love the ministry and love to reach out to youth and children. I love building relationships with them and being there to help them up when they fall. But, what of all the others that pass by me and give me opportunity to open the world of Jesus to them?
As a licensed minister I constantly deal with peoples misconceptions of what ministry is. And their thoughts about what a "Pastor" is. Reguardless of your beliefe we are no different than any of you, in fact we may struggle more. Scripture says that our struggle (fight) is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual darkness (my interpretation).
That movie was based on a true story. I have yet to watch the special features and see what the story was all about. But, I do know that if any part of it was true, it was about a little boy fighting a battle and doing the only thing he knew how: writing letters to God. To many of us that would seem juvenile. But in reality, we act more juvenile by trying to be sophisticated. There is a reason why Jesus loves little children. They are more open and pure. They don't worry so much about what everyone thinks and just acts.
So what are we waiting for? What is it that we can do? For me it could be as simple as stoping and taking more time on my walk home from work to talk to someone I have never met before. What is it for you?
I pray you are blessed...

Here goes nothen
My little sister replied to an e-mail that I sent out today. I had decided to send a daily e-mail of my thoughts and inspirational things. She directed me to this site so, here goes nothen!
I have been journaling since my Junior Year of Bible College. I am addicted to this expression of self. It has become a theraputic tool for me over the years since I no longer have football to take out the frustration of my days.
So my hope is that this becomes another extension of my journaling. At least that is the way I choose to look at this blogging experience. I hope you enjoy my thoughts, hopes, dreams, victories, and failures. I am under no delusions that I will actually have people respond to what I write on here for I do not consider myself a writer nor do I write on here for response of any kind. Just another avenue for me to share what I think about things.
Warning: If your political and tend to rant and rave about polotics you must be informed that I will rarely if ever respond to anything of that sort unless it pertains to spirituality. Also, discussions or comments about Biblical principles and truth are fine but remember everyone is entitled to their opinions and if your opinion is contrary to scripture well, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO BE WRONG! :)
